West Sea signs a contract with the City Council of Viana Do Castelo that will allow for an investment of 3.5 million euros

Pedro Duarte and José Maria Costa, Mayor of Viana do Castelo, signed a contract that will ensure an investment of more than 3.5 million euros in the West Sea shipyard and the creation of more than 50 jobs, direct or indirect, over three years. With this agreement, the municipality exempts West Sea from paying all fees due for licensing.

Thus, the investment contract signed obliges the City Council to fully exempt the payment of fees due for licensing and other fees for the works process, with the counterpart being West Sea’s obligation to carry out the planned investment, in an amount greater than 3.5 million euros, over a period of three years; to keep the facilities in operation for a period of at least 10 years; not to suspend the activity, except for a maximum period of one month per year; employ in its staff a number of direct or indirect workers equal to or greater than 50 in three years; and maintain West Sea’s headquarters in Viana do Castelo.
West Sea – Estaleiros Navais LDA is a company of the Martifer Group and is dedicated to shipbuilding and ship repair in Viana do Castelo and intends to become “one of the most important players in the world shipbuilding and repair market”. To this end, it has an investment plan worth more than 3.5 million euros, which foresees the creation of more than 50 jobs, but allowing it to reach, in the first three years, 400 direct and indirect jobs.”
