The tests on the functioning of the safety equipment and mechanisms of the polar vessel World Traveller took place in March 2021. The Marine Evacuation System (MES) and both rescue rafts were tested.
All tests were carried out in the presence of representatives of the Supplier, the Crew, the Classification Society, the Shipowner and the US Coast Guard.
The MES test checks and assesses the functioning of the starboard and port side rescue device found on most modern passenger ships. It includes an inflatable slide where passengers can exit directly into the interior of the rescue rafts. All of the local commands essential for triggering these two pieces of equipment were tested.
The tests performed met all the requirements and were successful.
